Oops also Montenegro and Bosnia reports are missing! We know, but we are at the unfortunately on a rally to Greece. About all that later more. So a little patience ....
But when the family has to wait you have to check your priorities. Now we are sitting with a cup of wine in the sea and recover from the racedays. Why drinking in the wet ?…? It´s simply too hot outside ! So in the water it is ok. Sitting at the beach is almost unbearable.. So we are staying inside. We are no exotic birds. The local people are equipped even more professional than we are and takes the plastichair and table directly into the big pool ( mediterranean sea ) . But keep in mind, that doesn't looks very nice, but it is very effective.
P.S: The last country reports will follow in the next time but first we have to sit again in the water and cool down (-:
waiting excitedly altogether for sunset and than start just with the first shout of the muezzin to eat. Here you can make right now the experience. The atmosphere is just awesome.
stop and work for food and a nice place. Mow the lawn and clean up is just because there is a Turkish wedding soon! Get it(-;? No? Sorry more won´t be explained for now, because everything else will be later in the Turkey report. Furthermore we have to prepare a lot for the coming countries, to repair and of course to write the missing countryreports....
Yes, patience is a virtue as we had experienced lately .... and that Turkey will not let us go for now.
Not only because of the scenery, the hospitality of the people and the nice Overlander who keep us from going on. No, a delayed package from Germany with the Carnet de Passage (a type of Visa for vehicles), spare parts and other important content that we have sent to Trabzon (Turkey ) has stopped us to go further south. It's just not there yet ! Especially without the carnet we do not even get into the next contries (Iran, Pakistan, India, ..) . First problem . It was not sent from Germany with Express. So this can probably still take 1-2 weeks. What has to be done in such a case except of looking
every day with a bad mood the DHL tracking website and there again desperately determine that the good piece hash´t again moved one single millimeter on that day ? Directly go to the local post office ! Maybe there you can still achieve something. So first you drink a lot of tea with nice Turkish employees of PTT . Yes they are really all very nice at the Cargo Center in Trabzon . But now we come to the second problem . We found out that unfortunately exactly on 1 September 2013 the custom of Trabzon has been moved to Istanbul. Probably for cost reasons .... 2 weeks ago !!! Incredible !
Since it was now decades here and if we send something it´s just moved away ! Would it been sent about 2 weeks earlier, it would have been handled well right here. It would have been easy to run over with an employee of PTT and after the declaration of urgency to get it out . But that's the past . Now it is over 1000km back in Istanbul . Probably somewhere in a huge bonded warehouse on a huge mountain of packages anywhere in Istanbul. It has the lowest priority , because of standard shipment. When it goes on ? No idea !
The first few days of waiting, we were able to keep us busy . We got our Iran Visa from the embassy, managed to get Pakistan visa through an agency in Germany, explored the area around Trabzon ( Sumela Monastery ), minor maintenance done on the bike and met nice helpful new people .
But than a plan B for the remaining waiting time must be found. We are relatively close to Georgia, so why not going over there? We have plenty of Time now…. (-: For this you also don´t need a visa , carnet or other harassment. So off to visit the wild Caucasus ! Besides, we can indeed improve our off-road abilities . Maybe during the trip to the north finally in the south our package arrives ? Then we will go back to pick it up .... Turkey 2.0 , so to speak . ( - ;
visit (-: All can be found later then in our next Iran Report.
P.S: Internet is quite a challenge here, that´s why everybody has to have some patience with us concerning messages.
manage to transport the bikes with us together on the train. So keep fingers crossed that this will work out and we will reach Lahore in 12 hours (800 km) tomorrow. There we will need a lot of time to fix the gearbox we guess. It will be our biggest repairing challenge on our journey so far.
So after we have left Belutchistan behind us, life is getting much more colorful again and the crowded streets and the warm temperature are also increasing the pleasure of travelling.
Oh sorry there is still a Iran report missing...... but we havn't forgotten to write it, but in the next weeks we will have hopefully some more time and it will be posted soon. Inshalla!
Until then we wish everybody a beautiful christmas time from the warm Pakistan. (-;
Do you ask yourself what we have done in 2013? Here you can accurately track what has happened in 2013 and where we were at which time.
LOSGEZOGEN!
We are now finally on the road. Why, exactly on this particular day? We don`t know. We were ready with the renovation of the apartment and it was already rented to holidayguests. So was the departure planned? To be honest, of course not! We wanted to start since days. Or was it even weeks? But we had always some other things to do, like further bike, house or what ever preparing.... So finally on this day we wanted to go.
So we simply rolled from the courtyard and watched what happened. There are people who probably prepared their bikes for years to go on a trip like this and then never left. We definitely didn`t want to be one of them.
So we are going on to Slovenia.
Italy update comes then the next few days!
So after frustrating search for sun in Slovenia we have finally found it here. She has been hiding in Croatia at the sea. Not a bad choice (-;
Hello sign of life now already from Kosovo. So it looks like a border that no longer exists or had never existed? Damn navis ... Illegal crossing....Well you could easily bypass the tank blocks with the Enduro. But we want to stay clean. So we have the ridiculous detour,of 3 hours, to get to the next correct open border. Grrr ...
γεια ( Hello ) or Γεια μας! (cheers) dear readers,
this a life sign already from Greece. Why did we travel in the last countries so unusually fast for us ? As we mentioned before we had to do a small rally. We don´t like that, because we wanted to see the last countries Albania, Macedonia longer and more in detail.
Best wishes from Turkey. This time from the Istanbul metropolis. After our speeds gets record breaking, we will slow down in the next time to discover this more extensive. Berlin is a village in comparison to Istanbul ! That´s for sure. Did you know that over 500.000 visitors daily push themselves over the Istanbul bazar ? For us the spice market was enough for the beginning. Who on earth is buying all that ? We for example! (-; Now in possession of lemon-salt.Interesting combination. At the moment it`s ramadan. You have ever seen thousands of people sitting in the park before the big mosques,
Dear fellow passengers or merhaba sevgili fellow yolcuları a short trip update.
We are still in Turkey but already northeast of Istanbul at the Black Sea.
But why he is mowing the lawn? Don`t they want to motorcycle to the east? Or now about to do it on a lawn mower? Well, we try to explain it shortly. Let´s put it that way. Sometimes we need to
კარგი დღე
and greetings from Batumi ( Georgia). First it´s great, that we have now 50 people here following and traveling with us. A nice small community. (-:
But who now awaits the final report on Turkey, we have to disappoint you and put off a little . Come back in a few weeks again !
We are stuck somehow now in Georgia!
It´s definitely a surprising candidate on our way to Asia. Look at "Waiting for the postman" (last report).... By the way the photo below of Tim (-; had been taken on this road:
Hello Friends,
best wishes from the Iran. Huch, what´s about all the snow you see in the rear mirror? It seems like the winter is dogging our steps.... Here we are crossing the 3200m high Salambar Pass near the 4850m high Alam-Kuh-Peak. We wanted to give the Caspian Sea a
We are having done a full stop right now in Pakistan. Tim needs at the moment a lot of attention, because his gearbox is broken just after the exciting and dangerous trip through Belutchistan. So we hopefully will be able to spend Christmas in Lahore. With the help of the nice, friendly and hospitably people here in Sindh we will
Happy Christmas. Our Days are colour- and flowerful by celebrating a perfect wedding in Pakistan. A "BIG Thank You" to all our friends here that we can be part of it.
