not be sold. The time before all our cow dealers could not find a suitable one and in the end we put ourselves on the phone. Three graduates from university (Alex who will later provide it here in Roshni , Olli and Coco ) should find a cow that fits
Yes, and in fact after a telephone search for hours in whole Punjab and clarification of our veterinarians, we looked the next day at our candidates after a long drive again around Sahiwal.
One breeder had really good animals there, with enormous milk records for Sahiwal cows. Trophies and medals were given to us directly after arrival, we had a real family operation found there who were proud of their own cows.
At place we let our doctor negotiate with the rules of Muslim style. After a trial milking and much talk there was only one point to left .... ! The calf was really sweet, but a male. (-; ! . Everybody had also asked us to bring if possible a female calf with .... So yes, we had the right cow but unfortunately no female calf, so we asked the farmer if he could not sell a female calf in addition to us. But he refused and he could not find something suitable and it would also be unthinkable….
"Not nice"! was our first reaction, but we once again experienced that everything goes in Pakistan. After two hours suddenly a 11 month-old female calf from a registered Sahiwal cow was standing in the yard. Again there was haggling and negotiating. We had found our optimal combination. The monetary surplus we could use therefore and a small herd is now together.
They were brought in 4 hours by truck the next day in the afternoon to Roshni. It was expected with joy and the first picture after arrival was taken. They all will get used in the next days to the new place. Yesterday evening we were sipping the first banana milk shake with our own milk!
Roshni and ourself would say Thank YOU to all our generous donor. That our little flock, should be the foundation stone for a good milk supply for the students and the house staff and a further step for a good future!
Our mother cow already had the name pigeon (urdu: kobutri) from the breeder. The little other we felt free and called them Tim und Lilly (-;
